Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju received the Special Olympics torch from Dr. Amar Prasad Reddy, the Chairman of the Special Olympics International Football Championship in New Delhi on Friday.
Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju along with several Special Athletes lit the 'Flame of Hope'.
The Flame of Hope symbolizes courage and celebration of diversity uniting communities around the globe.
Wishing the athletes very best, Sports minister said that in the last special summer Olympics in Abu Dhabi, Indian contingent won maximum number of medals, which reflects their energy and motivation level.
Sports minister Kiren Rijiju announced cash prize for winners of Abu Dhabi games. He also said, the government will fully support the Special Olympics and international football championships.
The Special Olympics International Football Championship will be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai from 3rd to 6th of August. It's a five-a-side football affair and the country will field two men and one women's team.
