Bangladesh Cricket Board official has acknowledged that one Test might be deducted from the upcoming home series against West Indies after a request was made from the visitors. West Indies are due to visit in January for three Tests and three ODIs along with two Twenty20 Internationals during their stay. According to BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan West Indies want to finish their assignment at an earlier date.

"There is a possibility that the series might be shortened as they want to complete the series as quickly as possible and in that case, one Test might be reduced," Akram told Cricbuzz. The tour is confirmed and they are expected to arrive on January 7. We are in talks regarding the biosecurity and everything is moving positively. We are also talking regarding the duration of the quarantine."

BCB had presented a comprehensive COVID-19 management plan to its West Indian counterpart for approval, taking first steps towards the resumption of international cricket in the country. Cricbuzz understands that West Indies may arrive later than the scheduled January 7.

BCB is looking to reschedule a slew of international series that have been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Bangladesh had to cancel their tour of Pakistan in March and then their white-ball tour of Ireland in May as the pandemic situation worsened around the world. That was followed by the postponement of the Sri Lanka tour. Bangladesh's two-match Test series against Australia and New Zealand respectively have also been postponed.

Bangladesh were also looking to reschedule the tour of Sri Lanka in October but that went in vain as the visitors were not ready to accept the 14-day quarantine proposed by Sri Lanka.
