India's recoveries move past 65 lakh; active COVID cases drop below 8L-mark for the first time in over a month

India's recoveries from the novel coronavirus moved past the 65 lakh-mark on Saturday. Active cases also dropped below the 8 lakh-mark for the first time in 1.5 months, the Health Ministry said today. At least 62,212 new infections were detected while 837 died in the last 24 hours. The total COVID-19 caseload stands at 74,32,681 including 7,95,087 active cases. Out of the total tally, 65,24,596 have cured/discharged/migrated. About 1,12,998 people have died so far, the ministry said.

India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23 and 40 lakh on September 5 . It went past 50 lakh on September 16, 60 lakh on September 28 and crossed 70 lakh on October 11.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a cumulative total of 9,32,54,017 samples have been tested up to October 16 with 9,99,090 samples being tested on Friday.

The 837 new fatalities include 306 from Maharashtra, 73 from Karnataka, 61 from West Bengal, 57 from Tamil Nadu, 46 from Uttar Pradesh and 40 from Chhattisgarh.

India reports 1,033 deaths, 61,870 new COVID-19 infections in a day; tally inches closer to 75 lakh

At least 61,870 new infections were detected while 1,033 people succumbed due to novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to Union health ministry data. Country's COVID-19 tally has crossed 74 lakh-mark while death toll breached 1-lakh mark.

The total cases of coronavirus infections stand at 7,494,551 while the death toll climbs to 1,14,031. Of these 7,83,311 are active cases while 65,97,209 people have been recovered, according to the health ministry.

India's recoveries from deadly coronavirus moved past the 65 lakh-mark. On Saturday, the COVID-19 case fatality rate due COVID-19 was recorded at 1.52 per cent.

"India has exponentially scaled up its testing capacity from one in January to more than 9.32 cr at present. The very high testing has resulted in the continuous falling positivity rate. It has now fallen below 8%," said Ministry of Health.

India reports 55,722 new COVID-19 cases, 579 deaths in a day; tally crosses 75 lakh-mark

ndia on Monday recorded as many as 55,722 new infections while 579 people succumbed due to deadly coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to Union health ministry data. The COVID-19 tally has crossed 75 lakh-mark while death toll breached 1-lakh mark. India's recoveries from the novel coronavirus moved past the 66 lakh-mark on Monday. Also, for the third consecutive day, the active cases of COVID-19 remained below 8 lakh in 1.5 months.

As of Monday morning, the total cases of coronavirus infections stand at 7,550,273 while the death toll climbs to 1,14,610. Of these 7,72,055 are active cases while 66,63,608 people have been recovered, according to the health ministry.

According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 9,50,83,976 samples were tested for #COVID19 up to 18th October. Of these, 8,59,786 samples were tested yesterday.

The health ministry stressed that more than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities. "Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research," the ministry said on its website, adding that state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.

India reports 46,790 new COVID-19 cases, 587 deaths in a day; tally inches closer to 76 lakh-mark

India on Tuesday recorded as many as 46,790 new infections while 587 people succumbed due to deadly coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to Union health ministry data. The COVID-19 tally has inched closer to 76 lakh-mark while death toll breached 1-lakh mark. India's recoveries from the novel coronavirus moved past the 67 lakh-mark on Tuesday. Also, for the fourth consecutive day, the active cases of COVID-19 remained below 8 lakh in 1.5 months.

As of Tuesday morning, India's coronavirus tally stands at 75,97,063 while the death toll climbs to 1,15,197. Of these 7,48,538 are active cases while 67,33,328 people have been recovered, according to the health ministry.

India records 54,044 new COVID-19 cases, 717 deaths in a day, tally rises to 76 lakh

The number of new coronavirus infections reported daily in India dropped below 60,000 nearly after three months, taking the COVID-19 caseload to above 76 lakh on Wednesday, according to the Union Health Ministry. A total of 54,044 fresh infections were reported in a day, taking the tally to 7,651,107 cases. The death toll climbed to 1,15,914 with 717 fatalities being registered in a span of 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am showed.

The number of new fatalities reported daily across the country was recorded below 600 for the second consecutive day. With 8448 recoveries in a day, the tally crossed 67,95,103 lakh while active cases of coronavirus infection remained below 8 lakh for the fourth consecutive day.

The total recovery rate has gone up to 88.81 %. There are 7,40,090 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which comprises 9.67 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.

According to the ICMR, a cumulative total of 9,72,00,379 samples have been tested up to October 19 with 10,83,608 samples being tested on Tuesday.

India records 55,839 new COVID-19 cases, 702 deaths in a day; tally rises to 77 lakh

As many as 55,839 new coronavirus infections were recorded on Thursday, pushing India's caseload to above 77 lakh, according to the Union Health Ministry. The death toll climbed to 1,16,616 with 702 fatalities being registered in a span of 24 hours. The total coronavirus cases tally stands ar 7,706,946.

With 79,415 recoveries in a day, the tally crossed 6,874,518 lakh while active cases of coronavirus infection remained below 8 lakh for the fourth consecutive day.

According to the ICMR, a cumulative total of 9,86,70,363 samples tested for COVID-19 up to 21st October. Of these, 14,69,984 samples were tested on Wednesday.

The total recovery rate has gone up to 89.19%. There are 7,15,812 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which comprises 9.28 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.

Meanwhile, noting that at least a couple of coronavirus vaccines could be available by early next year, WHO chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan said the COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the importance of investing in public health and primary healthcare.

Addressing the 15th JRD Tata Memorial Oration from Geneva, Swaminathan highlighted the impact of COVID-19 on education, violence against women, reproductive health and services.

“Of the lessons that I have learned over the last nine or ten months, the most important one is the importance of investing in public health and primary healthcare," she said.

India records 54,366 new COVID-19 cases, 690 deaths in a day; active cases below 7 lakh

The number of coronavirus infections reported in a span of 24 hours remained below 60,000 for the fifth consecutive day on Friday as India's caseload went past 77 lakh, while recoveries have crossed 69 lakh, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry. The active cases of coronavirus infection remained below seven lakh for the first time in months.

The COVID-19 caseload mounted to 7,761,312 with 54,366 new infections being reported in a day, while the death toll climbed to 1,17,306 with 690 more fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed. There are 6,95,509 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which accounts for 8.96 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.

A total of 69,48,497 people have recuperated from the disease so far pushing the national recovery rate to 89.52 per cent, while the case fatality rate stood at 1.51 per cent.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a cumulative total of 10,01,13,085 samples have been tested up to October 21, of which 14,42,722 were tested on Thursday.

Meanwhile, India has crossed the 10 crore-mark in conducting tests for the detection of COVID-19 as on Thursday with average testing of more than 10 lakh samples per day in the last 17 days, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.

India's recoveries zoom past 7 million mark; active cases over 6.80 lakh

Recoveries from the novel coronavirus zoomed past the 7-million mark in India on Saturday, according to the latest figures published by the Union Health Ministry. The recovery rate in the country is about 89.78 per cent. As per the data, 70,16,046 people have recovered from the highly-infectious virus.
