New Zealand Cricket have handed a national team call-up to Auckland Aces batsman Devon Conway for the first series of the home season - against West Indies. Conway has been picked in the squad to play three T20Is against the visitors, on November 27, 29 and 30. New Zealand head coach Gary Stead confirmed that Colin Munro is missing from the squad owing to his Big Bash commitments.

"We're looking forward to welcoming Devon into our environment for the first time and I'm sure he'll soak up the experience," Stead said.

Impressive fast bowler Kyle Jamieson, who made his ODI and Test debuts against India earlier this year, has been picked for the T20Is too, but he - as well as Tim Southee and Taylor - will be available only for the first two games before joining up with the Test squad on November 30 in Hamilton.

Southee, who was rested from the third round of Plunket Shield games as a precautionary measure, will lead the side in the short format, while Kane Williamson and Trent Boult have been excluded with the focus on the Test series, that kicks off December 3.

"We've had to make a decision on Kane and Trent to prioritise the Test matches, given how important they are to our red-ball team and the fact they both played such big roles in the recent IPL while also managing injuries.

"There's no secret we're right in the hunt for the World Test Championship Final following our two-nil win over India and having Trent and Kane fully fit and focussed for the upcoming series will be crucial," Stead added.

The T20I squad also sees the return of Glenn Phillips, who finished second on the batting charts with 316 runs at a strike rate of 127.41 in 10 CPL outings. With three players leaving just before the final game of the T20I series, NZC have added Mark Chapman, Doug Bracewell and Scott Kuggeleijn as cover.

Leading up to this series, there's also injury concerns over Test squad members Colin de Grandhomme (right foot) and Ajaz Patel (left calf), who have both been picked in the 13-man squad. Stead is hopeful the coming two weeks will give them every chance to get fit and be available for selection.

"Colin and Ajaz have quite different injuries which are requiring a different return to play protocols. It's too early at this stage to definitively say what their chances are but we're hopeful the next two weeks will make that clearer," he said.

The New Zealand players who were involved in the recently concluded IPL - Lockie Ferguson, Jimmy Neesham, Mitchell Santner and Tim Seifert - will finish their isolation period on November 26, just on time to link up with the T20I squad ahead of the series opener on the following day.
