Update Jason Roy returns for ODIs against Australia as England announce 14-man squad

Jason Roy returns for ODIs against Australia as England announce 14-man squad, Dawid Malan added as reserve

Besides Roy being named in England's 14-man squad for the 3-match ODI series at home, that starts on September 11 in Manchester, power hitter Dawid Malan has been added as a reserve in the squad. Malan was the leading run-scorer in the recently concluded 3-match T20I series against Australia. Besides Malan, Phil Salt and Saqib Mahmood have also been added as reserves in the squad. Meanwhile, Joe Denly returned to play for Kent in the T20 Blast.

On the other hand, limited-over captain Eoin Morgan is expected to be fit ahead of the series that starts on Friday. Morgan had sustained a finger injury during the T20I series. Meanwhile, wicketkeeping mainstay Jos Buttler, who had to leave the biosecure-bubble after the 2nd T20I for personal reasons, will be back for the ODIs given he tests negative for the novel coronavirus.

"Eoin, obviously good news around his finger, and touch wood he'll be fit as well. Malan has come in as a reserve, Roy has come through fit so he will join the squad and obviously Salt has come in as a reserve as well. Jos will be back in the bubble to join us in Manchester, baring test results. He should be available to play," confirmed head coach Chris Silverwood.
