Mark Robinson, former England women's team head coach, is all set to join Bangladesh in the same capacity from January, BCB women's wing chairman Nadel Chowdhury confirmed to Cricbuzzon Saturday. Robinson will replace Anju Jain following her departure after Bangladesh's dismal show in the ICC Women's Twenty20 World Cup in Australia where Bangladesh lost all four of their group-stage matches in the tournament.

Jain was roped in, in 2018 after the departure of David Capel, but her contract was not extended by the board following the poor performance in the showpiece event.

BCB plans to hold a preparation camp for the women's team in Sylhet from January as they are expected to take part in the 2021 ICC Women's World Cup qualifiers in Sri Lanka from June 26 to July 10, that was postponed earlier due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Bangladesh women's cricketers had an extremely quiet year, with the national team last taking the field on March 2. To prepare players for the qualifiers and other bilateral series, BCB is planning to hold the training camp and according to Chowdhury they are expecting Robinson to be available in the camp.

"We are hoping for him (Robinson) to arrive in January and take over our national women's cricket team. We are also expecting him to be available with our cricketers in their upcoming training camp," Chowdhury told Cricbuzz.

"Though the contract is yet to be signed we have completed 80 percent of the formalities with him. He will be here on a two-year contract," he said.

Robinson, the 53-year old former Sussex coach, stepped down as the England Women's coach in August 2019 after their defeat in Ashes but not before leaving his mark in his four years tenure with England women's team. Robinson guided England to victory in the 2017 World Cup and to the final of 2018 Women's T20 World Cup in the Caribbean.
