Update Tennis player Sasi Mukund reaches final of ATP Challenger in China

Indian tennis player Sasi Kumar Mukund pulled off the biggest result of his career, reaching his maiden singles final on the ATP Challenger Tour, in Baotou, China on Saturday.

The 12th seed Mukund, beat Tung-Lin Wu 7-5, 6-3 in the semifinals of the clay-court event. 

Mukund was recently named in Indian Davis Cup squad as a reserve member. He next faces Australian top seed James Duckworth in the final.

To make it even more special, Mukund later joined hands with Russian Teymuraz Gabashvili to make the men's doubles title clash too, winning 6-3,  3-6, 13-11 against top seeds Goncalo Oliveira and Luke Saville.

Double runner-up finish for Mukund at ATP Challenger Tour

AIR NewsIndian tennis player Sasi Kumar Mukund ended runner-up in both singles and doubles at ATP Challenger Tour, in Baotou, China today. The 12th seed Mukund lost the singles title clash 4-6 3-6 to Australian top seed James Duckworth in the clay-court event.

In the doubles, Mukund and Russian Teymuraz Gabashvili lost 6-7 (3) 2-6 to second seed Korean pair of Ji Sung Nam and Min-Kyu Song.

Reaching the Chennai Open semifinal was Mukund's best singles performance before entering this event. Mukund earned 48 ranking points that will push him to career-best 235 when the new rankings will be issued after the conclusion of the US Open.
