Former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody will return to the management team of Sunrisers Hyderabad, this time as the franchise's Director of Cricket. Moody, who operated as the team's head coach for seven years until 2019, was replaced at the post for IPL 2020 by England's World Cup winning coach Trevor Bayliss.

It is understood that Bayliss will continue as the head coach with Moody slotting back in a role that extends beyond coaching, a model also adopted by the Royal Challengers Bangalore who have Simon Katich (head coach) and Mike Hesson (Director of Cricket) functioning in similar capacities.

Moody had a very successful run with Sunrisers Hyderabad during his seven years as a head coach. Under him, Sunrisers won the IPL in 2016 and finished runners-up in 2018. The team has also progressed to the playoffs in each of the last five seasons of the competition.

Moody brings substantial management experience to the table, having served in a similar role at Worcestershire in the early 2000s. He was then in charge of the Sri Lankan national team for two years culminating in their run to the World Cup final in 2007, and also oversaw Kings XI Punjab in the first two seasons of the IPL. More recently, Moody has served as the Director of Cricket for the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League.
