Update Van Niekerk, Chloe Tryon still out as SA name squad for India tour

Regular captain Dane Van Niekerk and senior Chloe Tryon continue to miss out from selection to the national team with lower-back injuries as South Africa named a mostly unchanged squad for the forthcoming series against India. Sune Luus, who led the side to ODI and T20I series wins over Pakistan at home last month, will continue to the squad.

Fast bowler Masabata Klaas, who picked up an injury in the 11th hour, is the only absentee from the 18-member squad that played Pakistan.

The squad landed in India on Saturday (February 27) and will now quarantine for a period of six days, followed by a two-day training program before taking on India in the first ODI on March 7. All five ODIs and the subsequent three T20Is will be played at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

"It is really exciting to finally have this tour confirmed and announce our squad that will do duty here in India, and we are looking forward to getting out there to see our ladies prove themselves under different playing conditions," said Hilton Moreeng, the head coach of South Africa. "India is always a wonderful place to tour and we are looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead."

Squad: Sune Luus ©, Ayabonga Khaka, Shabnim Ismail, Laura Wolvaardt, Trisha Chetty, Sinalo Jafta, Tasmin Britz, Marizanne Kapp, Nondumiso Shangase, Lizelle Lee, Anneke Bosch, Faye Tunniclife, Nonkululeko Mlaba, Mignon du Preez, Nadine de Klerk, Lara Goodall, Tumi Sekhukhune.
